2) The Rocky franchise (1976-2006) The first Rocky film in 1976 was an instant classic, winning the Oscar for Best Picture and turning Sylvester Stallone into a movie star. While the first film is widely considered to be the best in the franchise, the first three sequels were insanely popular and are considered iconic films. 
Rocky V (1990) is widely considered to be the worst in the franchise, since it focuses on Rocky training another fighter and doesn’t have the same heart as the first four films. 
The sixth film, Rocky Balboa (2006), focuses on his comeback and was well-received. A seventh film is in the works, where Balboa is mentoring the son of Apollo Creed, who he fought in the original movie and won the title from in Rocky II.
