1) Raging Bull (1980) Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, Raging Bull is widely considered to be not only the best boxing film of all-time, but one of the best films ever. Entertainment Weekly rated it as the fifth best movie of all-time. De Niro won an Oscar for his portrayal of Jake LaMotta, whose personal problems and mafia ties figured prominently in his career, in which he won the middleweight title in 1949. The film deals with all of LaMotta’s issues, and his comeback. It is a fascinating look at a boxer, whose life was every bit as crazy out of the ring as it was inside of it.
