Even though he fights back the bullies and recovers his jacket, Robert is distraught by his father’s attention to training Tommy Gunn. Because of this, Robert alienates himself from his parents and takes up smoking with his new friends. It is only when Tommy Gunn sells out to George Washington Duke that Rocky mends his relationship with Robert.
